Over the course of 18 months, we prepared for and staffed 45 live events. The campaign’s role was to support our candidate, and we were the online cheerleaders for Hillary Clinton. We found visual ways to convey her competence, her record, and her policies so that no matter what she said onstage, we were prepared to back her up.
We were strategic in our preparation to assure that we, as well as her supporters, could respond as rapidly as possible to whatever came up. We created debate watch party kits for Pinterest and armed our supporters with statements framed in the first person. We wanted them to be able to say “This is why I’m with her.”
We were always ready to correct the record. This included fact-checking our opponents’ statements about Hillary and scrutinizing their own records and policies. Most of this content lived on our social media account, The Briefing, which was dedicated to oppositional content.
